An order published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) includes the United Kingdom and Japan on the list of special countries and regions whose residents are not affected by the temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the European Union. Therefore, British citizens, the main source of tourists to Spain, will be able to enter the country starting Monday.

The order, which will take effect on Monday, represents a further change to the list after Israel was added on May 11. With the addition of the United Kingdom and Japan, the list now includes Israel, Northern Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and China. Residents of the Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions remain exempt from these restrictions.

Regarding the entry of the already immunized population starting June 7th, those vaccinated with one of the medications approved by the EU or the WHO will be allowed to enter, opening the door to tourism from Latin America or Asia.

TOURISM CURRENT OVERVIEW

Therefore, the current plan is as follows: of the EU countries, those on the green list (such as Iceland and parts of Finland and Norway) can already enter without checks. The rest (such as Germany and France) can enter with a PCR test before departure or, from June 7th, if they are vaccinated. The aim of all this is to make it easier for travelers to spend their holidays in Spain.

COVID CERTIFICATE

The new COVID certificate, which comes into effect on July 1, will also contribute to increasing the number of travelers entering Spain from other countries. Regarding this European health passport, Spain has emphasized its importance in safely restoring mobility.
